Sunday 9th August sees a milestone in Kildare badminton with the start of Badminton Ireland's regional academy KCELL kicking off in Kilcullen Sports Complex at 10am.

With the numbers playing badminton growing around the country Badminton Ireland has identified Kilcullen as one of the key locations for one of its elite feeder cells. KCELL will offer expert coaching from European medal winners Joshua & Sam Magee as well as Spanish international Juan Manuel Quiles.

KCELL will be open to all players fulfilling one simple criteria.....Badminton comes first. So if your a beginner or elite player and Kilcullen is within an hour from you the KCELL just might be for you.

"My vision for KCELL is simple. I want to offer world level coaching to the growing number of children between the ages of 7 & 17 who are playing badminton" Mark Phelan (cell director) "It is important that we offer this kind of coaching to the population of badminton playing children outside of Dublin. If we get to see one of our players develop to play in the international set up well that will be an added bonus.

To have players such as Joshua, Sam and Juan involved puts KCELL on a firm footing going forward and we hope to grow the sessions from 1 to 3 inside the year with the help of the local clubs and coaches."

KCELL kicks off on Sunday 9th August at 10am in Kilcullen, Co.Kildare and Joshua Magee will be on hand to lead the training as well as having his European bronze medal with him.
